In 2025, I received my second Fulbright opportunity to travel to the Philippines with a cohort of other U.S. educators in July, 2026. Prior to our departure, we dedicated a year to learning about various topics, from global education to Filipino history and culture. Follow to read about my journey!

Guiding Question
Prior to my field experience, I’ve developed the following guiding question: How do Filipino educators employ local history, cultural identity, and community experiences to foster civic engagement, cultural relevancy, and global competency, and how can these approaches inform social studies instruction in my own community?
As both a high school social studies teacher and education professor with a vested interest in how curricula intersects with history and culture, exploring this inquiry destines me to learn from Filipino teachers and students in a manner that supports and elevates their students and my own students back in the States.
